This type of migraine used to be known as a common migraine, and usually last four to seventy-two hours. You may experience an intense throbbing pain that is made worse with movement, nausea, vomiting, and light and sound sensitivity.
Formerly known as classic or complicated migraine, this type brings forth visual disturbances and some other neurological symptoms that may appear ten minutes to an hour before the headache comes. Migraine with aura can happen with or without headache pain, may affect your vision temporarily, or make you see zigzag patterns that spread across your line of vision.
There are also four subtypes of a migraine with aura. These include:
Migraine without Headache: This type includes problems with vision, constipation, nausea, and vomiting without head pain.
Migraine with Brainstem Aura: Children and adolescents most often suffer from this type of migraine, and symptoms include double vision, slurred speech, and loss of balance.
Hemiplegic Migraine: This is a rare form of migraine that can bring about paralysis on one side of the body, vision problems, trouble speaking or swallowing, vertigo, and a stabbing or pricking sensation.
Retinal Migraine: Retinal migraines are extremely rare and can decrease your vision in one eye.
Those who have 15 or more days with a headache per month over a period of more than 3 months are considered to suffer from chronic migraines.
